The CRC is pleased to welcome Dr. Andréanne Gagné as a regular member. She completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at Université Laval. During her medical training, she also earned a Master’s degree in Experimental Medicine under the supervision of Drs. Bernard Têtu and Isabelle Bairati, retired members of the CRC. She then pursued a residency in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology at Université Laval, during which she followed the clinician–scientist pathway by completing a PhD in Clinical and Biomedical Sciences under the supervision of Dr. Philippe Joubert, as well as the Clinician–Scientist Program of the Royal College. Her doctoral research focused on the study of analytical factors influencing PD-L1 expression, a key biomarker in lung cancer.
She subsequently completed postdoctoral training in Boston, which included one year of a clinical fellowship in thoracic pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by a second year dedicated to research in spatial proteomics applied to lung cancer. Since July 2024, she has held a position as a thoracic pathologist and researcher at the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec (IUCPQ).
Her research focuses on the characterization of the tumor microenvironment in lung cancers, with a particular interest in small cell lung carcinoma, an aggressive form of lung cancer for which therapeutic options remain limited. Using well-characterized patient cohorts, her team develops integrated approaches combining transcriptomic analyses and tumor microenvironment profiling to identify novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers. The ultimate goal is to better understand the mechanisms underlying tumor progression and treatment resistance, within a precision medicine framework.
The CRC warmly welcomes her!
