Back to the list

Here is the portrait of the recipient of the 2025  Lise Fillion Scholarship, Clément Larose, a doctoral student in clinical and biomedical sciences in Dr. Vincent Fradet's team. The CRC scholarship program is made possible thanks to the funding of our centre by Université Laval as well as the support of the Cancer Research Fund of Université Laval.

Dr. Clément Larose was trained in France as a urologist, with specialization in andrology and ethics. Dr. Larose joined Dr. Vincent Fradet’s team as a clinical fellow and PhD student to further develop his research training. His research project aims to develop a risk calculator to stratify patients at high risk of developing prostate cancer.

Optimizing a prostate tumor risk calculator based on the analysis of prostate-specific antigen and multiple biomarkers using artificial intelligence (AI) offers a promising avenue to improve screening practices. The expected results could significantly contribute to advances in prostate cancer diagnostic methods, paving the way for a more precise and personalized approach to men’s health.

Developing a tool targeting patients at high risk of prostate cancer will enable physicians to offer at-risk men tailored follow-up strategies and/or propose participation in clinical studies evaluating the benefits of specific interventions aimed at reducing the risk of developing prostate cancer through lifestyle modifications. Ultimately, larger-scale initiatives could be implemented through France–Canada collaborations to reduce the overall risk of prostate cancer by leveraging predictive and modifiable markers.
