The Université Cancer Research Center held a new edition of its science outreach event, Zoom sur la recherche, on May 31, 2026, at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Centre intégré de cancérologie
Organized by the CRC Trainee Committee, the event aimed to bring the public closer to cancer research by offering privileged access to scientists, their discoveries, and research infrastructure. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors were invited to explore the many facets of research, ranging from the understanding of cellular mechanisms to innovations that are transforming patient care.
The public was able to discover 10 interactive booths and tour the facilities of the new research center. The themes covered the full spectrum of cancer research and care, from basic research to prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and patient support. Participants thus gained a better understanding of how discoveries made in the laboratory are translated into tangible clinical advances.
This edition was a resounding success, welcoming visitors of all ages, including families, students, as well as patients and their loved ones. Exchanges between the public and members of the trainee community highlighted the importance of research and sparked curiosity about the work being carried out at the Cancer Research Center.
We would like to warmly thank the faculty researchers, students, and volunteers who generously shared their expertise, passion, and enthusiasm throughout the day. The success of the event relied heavily on their commitment, creativity, and ability to make research accessible to the general public. Finally, we sincerely thank the visitors for their interest and curiosity, which give full meaning to this initiative aimed at bringing science and the community closer together.
